Plastic Recycling/Upcycling

Plastic Recycling/Upcycling. We recycle plastic waste into bales or pellets. Our first plastic waste upcycling technology was developed in 2018 from the founders garage. This technology converts recycled plastics into building materials such as blocks, bricks, kerbs, slabs etc used in the building and construction industry. During the lockdown of COVID-19 pandemic, Ecocent saved millions of bottle necks from the environment and converted them into slabs. These slabs were used in the construction of portable sewage systems for homes that uses public toilets. Our timely intervention helped communities at Ejisu and its environs to successfully observe the lockdown with access to convenient private sewage system.

E-waste Recycling/Upcycling

Ecocent trains others in the repairing of faulty electrical and electronic gadgets. In 2021, technologies for upcycling e-waste were developed. Used lithium-ion batteries from laptops were upcycled into power banks. The solar rechargeable power banks are used to power standing fan, computers, television etc. It is also employed in the poultry industry to address unstable electric power supply. In addition to mitigating birds mortality rate caused by power outage, poultry farmers also saved more than 50% on the cost of accessing stable electric power supply for their lightening system. Again, technology for repurposing discarded fridges were developed for poultry farmers in the Northern Region of Ghana. After the project, the total cost of constructing a 1000 egg capacitor incubator was decreased by 50% when waste fridges are employed as part of the raw materials.
