In 2019, EcoCENT Recycling Limited, a waste recycling company in Kumasi, partnered with A Wealth of Women International, an NGO, to launch an educational initiative aimed at sensitizing senior high school students on waste segregation and proper waste management practices. The project, which took place at Kumasi Wesley Girls Senior High School, focused on equipping students with the knowledge and skills to become “proper waste management ambassadors” within their communities. Through this initiative, students were encouraged to understand the environmental and economic benefits of recycling, turning waste into valuable resources, and supporting the broader goal of making Ghana the cleanest country in Africa.
The project was part of the “I Count Project,” a program organized by The Bridget Kyerematen Division-Ghana of A Wealth of Women International, which seeks to develop leadership skills among senior high school girls. By promoting waste recycling as a sustainable business opportunity, the project aimed to raise awareness about the importance of proper waste disposal and the positive impact it can have on the environment and society at large
